Rabbit Island is a remote island in the upper peninsula of Michigan. It was bought a few years ago by a doctor named Rob from New York City and set aside as a place of conservation, art, preservation and recreation. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to be part of a group of students and leaders who got to spend time on the island in 2014. A buddy of mine, David Buth runs a Grand Rapids based non profit called Summer Journeys and I've helped him our for years photographing their adventures. This trip was a blend of adventure, exploring, creation, and recooperation from our busy lives.
I took these experiences and for the first time, as a bit of an experiment, made a book out of them. I'm so glad that I did because it has helped to remind me about the power of a printed photo. Even with all of the wonderful digital things we enjoy, there is still something powerful whenever you see a printed photo. My hope is that this will be the first of many books created from the stories and adventures I get to be apart of.
